Walton International Movers handles removals to Dubai from the UK, collecting across Essex and delivering to your new home in the UAE. Family-run for over 30 years, our team works from Oldbury Barn, Great Wakering, near Southend-on-Sea. Dubai is one of our most requested long-haul routes, usually a work move on a fixed contract, and as Dedicated International Removals Specialists we handle the shipping, the customs and the paperwork so you can focus on the job you are moving for.
We collect from Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Chelmsford, Brentwood, Rayleigh, Wickford, Rochford, Canvey Island and Leigh-on-Sea, and from across the wider county.
Dubai is a long-haul move, so it goes by sea or air rather than road, and choosing between them is the first real decision.
Sea freight is the default and the most cost-effective for a household. Your belongings are packed, loaded into a container and shipped to a UAE port, then cleared and delivered. Allow roughly a month at sea plus handling and clearance at each end, so it suits belongings you will not need immediately.
Air freight is far quicker, a matter of days rather than weeks, but it costs more and suits smaller volumes, so it is used for the things you need soon after you land.
The option most people do not know about is a split shipment, and for a Dubai move it often makes the most sense. You send a small air consignment of essentials, clothes, a laptop, a few kitchen items and children's things, so you can live from day one, and the rest follows by sea. We plan the split at survey stage so nothing important is stuck on a boat when you need it.
One question shapes a Dubai move more than any other: is your new accommodation furnished or unfurnished. Many expat properties in Dubai come furnished, which means a full household shipment is often unnecessary, and you may be better sending clothes, personal effects and a few key items rather than an entire home of furniture that is already provided. That can turn a full sea container into a small air shipment and change the cost of the move completely. We talk this through honestly at survey, because there is no sense shipping a sofa to a flat that already has one.
A lot of Dubai moves are on a fixed-term contract, and a common, sensible choice is to keep your UK belongings in storage for the duration rather than ship everything out and back. If you are letting your home furnished, or simply do not want a household of furniture in Dubai for two or three years, we can hold your belongings in indoor wooden containerised storage at our Great Wakering warehouse for the length of your contract. It is handled by our team, not a self-access facility, with short and long-term options, so your home is waiting for you when you come back and you only ship what you actually need out there.
