This is where packing standards really diverge, and it is worth understanding before you book. Domestic packing only has to survive a van journey across Essex or the UK: load, drive, unload. Export packing has to survive far more. Your belongings are loaded, taken to a port, handled onto a vessel or aircraft, carried across borders, handled again at the destination port, sometimes stored for weeks, then unloaded and delivered, often over a period of months and through significant changes in temperature and humidity.
Export grade packing matters most on long routes such as a move to Canada or a move to Dubai. As Dedicated International Removals Specialists, we pack overseas shipments to that export standard, with a detailed inventory prepared for customs alongside the packing. If your move is heading abroad, see our international removals page, and for moves across the continent our European removals service. Because export work sets our benchmark, local Essex moves are packed with the same care rather than a lower grade.
We supply everything needed to pack a home properly: double-walled cardboard boxes in a range of sizes, wardrobe boxes with a hanging rail so clothes travel on their hangers, bubble wrap, packing paper and padding for fragile items, and specialist protection for mirrors, artwork and screens. Furniture is wrapped in blankets and covers before it leaves the room. You do not need to source anything yourself, and the materials are included in the packing quote, with the protection matched to the item.
Many people do not realise unpacking is offered at all. It is. If you agree it at the survey stage, our team will unpack at the destination, place items in the rooms you want them, and take the used boxes and paper away, so you are not left with a house full of cartons on your first night. It is particularly worth considering for larger homes and for anyone short on time around moving day.
Some things need more than a box. Our team wraps and protects china, glassware, artwork, mirrors, electronics and other valuables individually, using the right materials for each rather than a one-size approach. Wardrobes, beds and larger furniture are dismantled before the move and reassembled at your new address, wrapped and protected for transit in between. If you have a genuinely valuable or awkward item, tell us at the survey and we will plan for it specifically.
We provide packing from our Great Wakering base across the whole county, including Southend-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Rayleigh, Basildon, Chelmsford and Brentwood. Packing also forms part of our office removals service for businesses relocating across Essex and the UK.
Yes. For safety we cannot pack or move hazardous items such as aerosols, paints, solvents and gas canisters, and we do not take perishable food, open liquids or live plants. We flag anything like this at the survey.
